In a bastard blink at the episode, airing tonight, the 61-year-old gets bottomward on one knee during a anniversary in Belize with the above Playboy archetypal and mother of his two children.
'I appear with so abundant baggage, but you're the alone acquaintance I've got. You're the alone one I love...and you're the alone one I anytime will love,' Simmons tells Tweed, 54.
Simmons then drops to his knee, causing Shannon to gasp in surprise and burst into tears. 'Please marry me,' he says.
The preview does not reveal whether or not she accepts the proposal.
Earlier in the episode, the couple's two children, Nick, 22, and Sophie, 19, express their disbelief that Gene is actually going to pop the question.
'I'm proud of you,' Nick tells his father.
Simmons is seen asking his daughter whether Tweed will like the ring he's chosen.
'Of course mom will love it, it's huge!' Sophie replies.
This season of the reality show saw Gene and Shannon endure some relationship trouble when she tired of his constant flirting with other women.
Tweed sparked speculation of a split when she walked out on an uncomfortable interview on The Joy Behar show in which both she and Simmons openly discussed his 'philandering ways.'
'I'm tired of it,' Tweed said of her life with Simmons. After Behar made a joke about his infamous track record with women, Tweed stormed off the set.
'That's very nice for you to joke about it, Tweed said sarcastically. 'F*** off. I'm done.'
